6U Co-ed program

Overview:

Valley Lacrosse offers an initiation program for boys and girls, grades K-1 (birthdates 9/1/19 - 8/31/20.)  This is an in-house practice format with limited contact. Games will be mixed in with practices during the week.

Registration Fees:

$75 Registration Fee includes a starter lacrosse stick and team t-shirt.  

Season Details:

June 9th through July 20th

(no programs July 2-July 5)

Practices or games are held 1 to 2 times per week. 

The Initiation Program is held on weekday evenings; the time and location will be determined based on field and coach availability. Efforts will be made to minimize schedule conflicts with soccer and other sports.

Equipment Needed (6U program):

• Helmet (hockey or lacrosse) with face shield (Eastview lacrosse has loaner helmets if needed)
• Mouth guard 
• Athletic cup/supporter
• Tennis shoes
• Gloves (hockey or lacrosse)

Volunteers Needed:

Please consider volunteering during registration. Multiple parent coaches per team are needed. Previous experience or knowledge of the game of lacrosse is not expected and Valley Lacrosse will help with providing resources to be successful. Volunteers are also needed to be team managers and board members.

8U & 10U 

The 8U and 10U programs have two programs: Box lacrosse played in an indoor arena with turf in March/April and field lacrosse outdoors on grass beginning in May and continuing through July. 

The 8U program is typically 1st and 2nd grade and 10U is typically 3rd and 4th grade. See the USA Lacrosse age chart (on right) for details. Age waivers may be requested through the lacrosse program director.

8U and 10U Box Lacrosse

5x5 format played at Eagan Civic Center or other nearby arenas with turf. The focus is on skill development with one or two games on the weekends. The cost for spring Box lacrosse is $75.

8U Summer Season

8U summer (mid-May to July), this group plays outdoors on half fields. Games are in a 5x5 format and played without a goalie, with a focus on skill development. The cost for the 8U summer season is $165.

8U practices and games:

• 1-2 Practices per week beginning in mid-May
• 1-2 games per week beginning the first week of June - mid-July

8U Tournaments:

• One tournament - date and location TBD
• Year End Jamboree: July 18-19, 2026 - Location TBD

10U Summer Season

10U summer (May to July), outdoor on half fields. Games will be played 7x7 with a goalie, with a focus on skill development. The cost for 10U summer lacrosse is $165.

10U practices and games:

• 1-2 Practices per week beginning in mid-May
• 1-2 games per week beginning the first week of June - mid-July

10U Tournaments (tentative):

• One tournament - date and location TBD
• Year End Jamboree: July 18-19, 2026 - Location TBD

Valley Youth Lacrosse participates in Youth Lacrosse Minnesota (YLM) for the summer season. Games schedule: TBD.

Independence Day Blackout Dates. No YLM games will be scheduled July 2-July 5.

12U - 14U

12U & 14U will run as one longer season this year. 12U is generally 5-6th graders and 14U is 7th and 8th. See the USA Lacrosse age chart (on right) for details. Waivers may be requested through the lacrosse program director.

Evaluations/Tryouts will be held in early April for team placement. All players interested in playing for their age level's "A" team must be evaluated. However, no players will be cut.

Season Structure:

Pre-season clinics will be held in March to help players prepare for evaluations/tryouts, dates and times will be finalized soon.

April and May we will practice 3-4 times per week and play games on weekends as part of the Great Northern Lacrosse League (GNLL). Game days are typically doubleheaders on either Saturday or Sunday.

In June and July we will begin play in the Youth Lacrosse Minnesota (YLM) summer season. All practices and league games are held Monday - Thursday.

Tournaments*:

One tournament in May 15-17 Wayzata HS.

Two summer tournaments - dates and locations TBD

State Tournament - July 25-26, 2026. Location TBD.

*Families may play in additional tournament(s) for an additional cost. Each team will handle this separately.
